10 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

Confidence is key for any kind of success. So, today, I’m going to give you 10 things that you can implement in your life right now that will highly increase your self-confidence. I hope you enjoy!

1. Repeat positive mantras to yourself

I strongly believe that a major key to never ending motivation is constantly feeding yourself positivity. So, create your own personalized mantras that you can recite to yourself throughout the day. Then, keep them in a place where you have easy access to them.

Here are some examples of positive mantras:

• I was built to get through this
• If anyone can do this, it’s me
• I’m really happy to be me

You can write these mantras or your own mantras on sticky notes and place them around your room or even write them in a little journal to keep with you.

2. Challenge negative thoughts

Not only do you want to constantly be feeding yourself positivity, you also want to keep negativity out. We beat ourselves into little nubs with the way we treat ourselves. And the worst part is, we don’t even realize that we’re doing it nor how big of an impact our negative thoughts have on our self-esteem.

Thoughts like..

  • I don’t know why I thought I could do this
  • I’m just not good enough
  • I’ll never be that pretty
  • No one would ever want to date me

are tearing you down. There are enough people out here who will do their best to take you out. Don’t add to their numbers. Instead, challenge those negative thoughts with a more rational thought.

I’ll give you an example

Challenge this thought:“I don’t know why I could do this.”

With this thought:  “I’ve never done anything like this before. So, of course it’s going to be a little more difficult for me. I’m just finding my way.”

Challenge this thought: “I’ll never be that pretty”

With this thought: “My special traits are what make me uniquely beautiful. I will continue to work and improve on myself until I become exactly who I want to be.”

3. Do things alone 
Doing things alone gives you the chance to discover new things about yourself, which is a priceless experience. You also learn that, even though it’s healthy to have friendships, you don’t need anyone to go with you to have a good time. 4. Do something out of your comfort zone
This is easier said than done. I get that. However, it’s something that will instantly boost your self-confidence. You can start with a small goal and gradually work yourself up. For example, you can start with saying hi to a stranger, taking the first step toward a new project, or being the first one in class or in a meeting to answer a question. The idea is to start doing things that stretch your limits and make you a little uncomfortable because…

5. Buy clothes that make you feel amazing
So, you still need to master that inner confidence because that’s where true beauty lies. However, when my nails, make-up, hair, and outfit are all on point I feel like no one can touch me, no man deserves me, and no girl looks better than me. It’s a known fact that when you look good, you feel good. So, go on a shopping spree and buy some clothes that make you feel invincible!

6. Find your niche/passion
This one may take some time, and that’s perfectly fine. Figure out what you’re passionate about and do more of it. Find your niche and operate within it. Nothing builds confidence like succeeding in your passion.

7. Help someone else
I know it’s kind of a selfish reason, but when you help others it makes you feel good. It takes the focus off of your own problems because you’re so focused on helping that other person. Now, the ideal motivation behind helping others would be because you want to make the world a better place, but who says you can’t have multiple reasons for doing one thing. It’s a great feeling when you feel put together enough to help someone else out.

8. Set a goal and accomplish it
Set a SMART goal. Then, work to accomplish it. It could be a goal weight, increasing your Instagram followers, or getting an A on your next test. With every goal you accomplish, you gain more awareness of the type of power you possess to make your dreams a reality. Thus, building your confidence.

9. Set Healthy Boundaries 
Being able to have a mature conversation with someone because they crossed your boundaries is the ultimate confidence booster. Practice saying no, meaning it and feeling good about it. Learn how to set and enforce healthy boundaries here.

10. Visualize the person you want to be then become it
Take action toward your dream career, take action toward being more confident or take action toward getting straight A’s this semester. Because becoming someone who you truly love will produce a confidence you’ve never experienced before.
